Dental Services - General ServicesGeneral
Despite the experience and training in performing many complicated dental services, Thoroughgood Dental focuses day in and day out on foundational teeth and gum health. We encourage routine visits and checkups, and offer all standard general dental services. Contact us to set up a visit today.
Cleanings
Dr. Perez has the experience and the training to perform many complicated dental services in-house. At the center of any clinical success, however, is the general health of the teeth and gums. It is this foundation that we are careful to routinely examine, maintain, and recommend treatment during general exams and cleanings.

An oral hygiene visit at our office is much more than a simple spray and wash. We pride ourselves on our dedication to removing the bacterial load that accumulates in the oral cavity in between visits. In addition, we perform very careful exams of the health of the gums and bone surrounding teeth to ensure that your homecare will be effective.

Last, but certainly not least of our general dental services, we perform an oral cancer screening. Though oral cancer is not too common, we take the extra time to rule out its presence.

Restorations (Fillings & Crowns)
Even with a solid foundation, there are times where a tooth may have new or recurring decay. The term for this decaying disease process is caries. Although finding caries is not our primary goal during routine dental services, we are sure to check suspicious spots on teeth and next to previous fillings.

Depending on the presence and extent of the decay, treatment may be indicated. If caught early in the process, most cavities can be prepared and filled with a restorative material before any further damage can occur. For this reason, we strive to detect caries early.

Take comfort in knowing that if you do require restorative work, Dr. Perez will take the time to explain the situation and the treatment necessary to fix it with minimal discomfort. We pride ourselves on our proven anesthetic injection technique that greatly reduces the pain of the ‘shot’.

Extractions
Although we like to think that we are in the tooth-saving business, there are times when a tooth must be removed. This can be due to the extent of a cavity, the presence of a crack, or the loss of bone surrounding a tooth. In addition, some teeth can be mal-positioned in a such a way that good oral hygiene is nearly impossible.

This includes unerupted and partially erupted wisdom teeth. No matter your individual needs, Dr. Perez has much experience in simple and more complex surgical extractions. He also maintains a relationship with specialist providers in the area and will at times rely on their experience for overly complicated cases. In summary, we will make the process of losing a tooth (or teeth) the most painless it can be, and prioritize this among our dental services.

Root Canals
An angry tooth is a painful tooth. The pulp of a tooth is the soft tissue portion at the very center. It is filled with blood vessels and nerves. There are times when these structures get ‘insulted’ by trauma and/or decay. Once this insult happens, the inflammatory response of the circulatory system rushes in to try and remedy the problem.

Unfortunately, this swelling that occurs causes more damage to these sensitive tissues. The result is what we refer to as a ‘hot-tooth’. The pain caused by this process is very real and is sporadic. It can be provoked by temperature changes (usually hot foods or liquids) and from biting pressure. If left alone these teeth will often feel better, for a short time. This occurs because the nerve inside has died. Unfortunately, the relief is only temporary as the next phase involves the accumulation of dead tissue and dead inflammatory cells. The result is an abscess that begins to form around the tip of the tooth. If left untreated, the pus that accumulates can tunnel through the bone and gum and will drain into the oral cavity.

Dr. Perez has performed hundreds of Root Canals and is very well-acquainted with diagnosing and treating these symptoms. Our injection technique coupled with our genuine concern for your comfort, will ensure that we get you out of pain with as little discomfort as possible. Most patients leave in much better spirits than they arrive.

Emergency Care
At Thoroughgood Dental we understand the unpredictable nature of pain and discomfort. Teeth that never before gave any indication of needing treatment can quickly become a real nuisance. For this reason, we are always quick to accommodate emergency visits. The best way to find immediate availability is by clicking the Book Appointment tab.

In addition, we respond to voice messages, and email. No matter your particular need, we our confident that our genuine concern for your well-being will be evident. Whether the issue can be resolved with a simple adjustment, or if you require a Root Canal, we put your comfort first.

Veneers
Whether your are seeking that ‘Hollywood Smile’, trying to hide unsightly gaps, or simply wish to turn back the clock on your smile, Dental Veneers may be the best option. During this procedure, a minimal amount of tooth structure is removed and replaced with an esthetic porcelain material. The porcelain is permanently bonded to your natural tooth.

With the modern advancements in dental materials, the result is a highly esthetic and resilient transformation of your smile. Dr. Perez has a high attention to detail and has transformed many smiles with porcelain veneers. When you are ready for your transformation, come in for an informative consultation.

Invisalign®
Correcting tooth alignment has never been easier. The advent of clear plastic aligners has changed the field of orthodontics. Dr. Perez has been straightening teeth with Invisalign for more than three years. He has the necessary training to correct many tooth position problems including: crowding, gaps, rotated teeth, and over-bites.

Your  individual treatment is tailored to the you with the help of Orthodontists working for Invisalign. Tooth movement is accomplished by variations in the clear aligners. Though the number of aligners varies by case, the process is always the same. Slight pressure is built in to each aligner and a force is applied to the teeth. The body senses the pressure and triggers a remodeling of bone that allows dimensional movement of the teeth where the force is applied.

The final result is the smile you always wanted. Click here to find out more and come in for a consultation when you are ready to begin your custom treatment.

Zoom® Teeth-Whitening
The foods we eat and things we drink can change the shade of our teeth over time. As we age, the dentin in our teeth becomes darker. The effect is a dull smile with teeth that are yellow or even a light shade of brown. Tooth bleaching can reverse these effects and brighten your smile.

With our in-office Zoom® whitening, you can see results of up to 8-shades whiter in 45 minutes. This fast, effective, and safe way to whiten your teeth far surpasses a take-home kit you might pick up at the store in both its effectiveness and length of time before seeing results. In addition, when we’re involved, you can be assured the process is safe, reliable, and hassle free.

Bonding
Although porcelain veneers offer the longest-lasting and best looking result for transforming anterior teeth, tooth bonding can give you a great looking smile with less cost. Bonding can be used to close small gaps, hide crack lines, blend older fillings, and change the shape of worn teeth.

In this process the tooth is prepared and a tooth-colored resin composite material is applied over the tooth. Once hardened, the material is finished and polished. The result is a natural-looking tooth with a consistent color.
